The Vandiver Cowl and Hat kit draws inspiration from the geometric triangles and vibrant colors of a quilt. Featuring color blocks of two contrasting shades, the half-square triangles are rotated and reflected to create a playful twist on the classic “flying geese” pattern. Using six colors, you can either complement or contrast them to achieve a shadow striping effect. The cowl is knitted in a tube and seamed together, this cozy neck warmer not only showcases stunning stranded color work but also cleverly hides the floats within the cowl.

Ikigai Fiber Paka Washi (50% easy wash merino wool, 50% easy wash baby alpaca; 135 yds / 123 m per 50 g skein): 2 skeins salt; 1 skein each of Pacific, Chartreuse, Smudge, Geranium, Orchid

NEEDLES: 

  • US 4 / 3.5 mm 24" / 60 cm circular needle                                                                     
  • US 5 / 3.75 mm 24" / 60 cm circular needle  and set of 5 double-pointed needles

Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
