"Ikigai" is the Japanese philosophy of having a source of value in one's life that makes everything worthwhile. It's your reason to get out of bed in the morning. Ikigai is often represented as the center of a Venn diagram overlapping what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs and what you can be paid for.
What is Ikigai Fiber? I have been fascinated with Japanese crafting for many years and have been fortunate to take workshops on Sashiko, boro and indigo dyeing. Japan has a tradition of handcrafting dating back centuries. Because of the social value of handcrafting, it is no wonder that their supplies are sophisticated yet practical. Although I'm starting with yarn, I envision Ikigai Fiber eventually carrying supplies and offering tutorials on many of these Japanese-inspired hand crafts. Our initial offering will include some beautiful yarn, and of course kits.
Our yarn, kits and accessories can be found here on my website and also at many local yarn shops throughout the country.
XOXO
