I just joined Textile Arts LA and attended my first event, the Desert Churros Rovings Ranch located in Acton, California. We were greeted by ranch owner Katherine Tucker who welcomed us with a home-cooked meal including homemade pie! Katherine shared information on Navajo Churro sheep and the roving she acquires from the fleece. Katherine is an accomplished weaver and hand-dyer, using natural dyes. We then toured the farm where we visited with some rambunctious rams, beautiful long-locked sheep, a friendly horse and of course her herding dogs. It's not often I get a chance to see sheep here is SoCal. Desert Churros Rovings can be purchased here.
