Here's a Ruffled & Ruched done with an Ombre technique that uses 2 strands of different color yarns.
I used Galler Prime Alpaca in Silver Gray and Natural which is a Sport / Light DK weight yarn, so 2 strands equal roughly a Worsted weight. Here is the breakdown of the color combos I used for the First & Second halves of the worsted version:
Cast On and Rows 1-3: 2 strands of gray
Rows 4-9: 1 strand of gray & 1 strand of natural
Rows 10-15: 2 strands of natural
Rows 16-21: 1 strand of gray & 1 strand of natural
Rows 22-28: 2 strands of gray
